Setting up and managing XML feeds

In this article:

What is an XML feed?

XML (Extensible Markup Language) feeds are used to exchange data between systems. They make it possible to share the jobs you post in CareerPlug with our partner job boards and return the applicants from those job boards back to your jobs in your CareerPlug account.

Due to the different requirements of individual job boards, XML feeds are highly customizable.

What are the benefits of an XML feed?

CareerPlug already uses multiple XML feeds to share your jobs automatically with our partner job boards, but building a custom XML feed allows you to send your CareerPlug jobs to any job boards where we don't currently share your jobs.

Here are some use cases for when you might want to use an XML feed:

Who can use an XML feed?

Anyone with access to CareerPlug's PartnerHub can use an XML feed, whether you're a small business owner or have a technical team to assist you. PartnerHub makes setting up a custom XML feed simple!

Where do I manage my CareerPlug XML feed?

You will manage your XML feed from CareerPlug's PartnerHub.

How do I set up and share my CareerPlug XML feed?

1. Click the plus sign icon (+) on the Job Feeds page.

2. Enter a Name for your XML feed in the associated field.

3. Choose a Schema Type from the drop-down menu. The schema type is the data template you'll use to format your XML feed.

4. Select your Partnership from the drop-down menu (if not already selected).

Note: There will only ever be one option available for your designated Partnership, which cannot be edited. The Partnership field should be pre-filled.

5. Click the Save button. You'll be redirected back to the Job Feeds page.

6. Click the XML file URL to download it.

7. Share the XML file to any job boards where you would like to post your CareerPlug jobs.

What is schema type?

At this time, we offer two types of schemas to help generate an XML feed for you. Each has its own set of included fields:

  • Default Fields: ID, URL, Title, Company, Date, City, Country, Postal Code, Description, JobType, Experience, Category
  • JobGet Fields: ID, Title, Description, URL, Company, Location, City, State, Country, Longitude, Latitude, Date
